i) Shrove Tuesday - Feb 17th, 2026 - 2 bags of Mix ordered, kitchen back in use… Gluten-free - Mrs. Jaski will do completely celiac-safe pancakes again this year. Mr. Venzon will send a message to the community about this.

ii) Fundraising - Purse Bingo? - Date to be decided on

iii) Valentine’s Dance-a-thon glow stick sales… + goal - Instagram - Goal poster in front of school!!!

 

4.  Principal’s Report

i)  Policy vetting - online at niagaracatholic.ca

ii)  Kindergarten Registration Open House - Feb 5th, 9am-6pm

iii)  Report Cards & Interviews by request - Reports to parents via Portal week of Feb. 9th

iv)  Notre Dame Open House for Grade 8’s - was 6:30 pm on Jan. 14th - feedback? Amazing night. Mr. Boon does a great job on this night with the ND staff. We have great retention from St. Alexander to ND

v)  Other happenings:

a.  Kids Helping Kids week - (activity schedule to follow soon),

b.  Valentine’s Dance-a-thon - Feb 12th,

c.  PA Day - Feb. 13th,

d.  Shrove Tuesday, Feb. 17th,

e.  Ash Wednesday Mass - Feb. 18th

vi)  DANCE-A-THON $10,000 Goal - $9700 in 2022/23 total

vii)  Fundraising and Tech purchases -

a.   New Chromebooks purchased: Niagara Catholic is beginning to phase out old Chromebooks that are too costly to repair.

b.   This will happen each year, with as anywhere from 50 to 120 Chromebooks being phased out each year. Our fundraising will help us keep up with purchasing replacements each year.

viii)  Gym Construction Update - waiting on stage, we have gym access as of last week.

ix)  School Improvement / Staff Report -

·  compared to NCDSB and Ontario

·  Looking at those students that are close to levels 2.8, 2.9, and 3.1,3.3… How many level 4’s? etc…

·  Discussion of cohort data and how our school performed from grade 3 to grade 6 results

·  Discussion about the importance of critical thinking for kids. We talked about the MathUp program, which is used as a primary resource in Niagara Catholic. Promotes rich, open-ended tasks with an entry point for all students.

x)  Follow up re: Pegasus Photography

·  Discussion of backgrounds and the photo ordering process.

·  Basically, there is a deadline, and all photos are processed about 10 days after the deadline, regardless of when you order.

·  We passed around and compared a grade 1 class picture from last school year (Lifetouch) and a grade 1 class picture from this school year (Pegasus).
