    Presentation - Mr. Jones- November is Diabetes Awareness Month. Wants to bring awareness to the staff and students to have Chris Jarvis (Former Olympian). Looking for fundraising for presentation. Cost of presentation is $200 and it goes to the foundation for Diabetes.

    – Halloween Dance update (glow products), Parade at 9:15am, Dance to follow approx. 10am, Due to allergies no bringing in food for classmates, Loot bags with stickers, pencil are ok

    - Trivia Night – Date Feb 23 or March 2

    Correspondence – None at this time.

    Shrove Tuesday-Feb 13th, 2018 – volunteers needed

    Christmas Event – Look at options for this year. Will present at next meeting in November.

    -Jose Evangelista – Pro-grants, Parent reaching out program called “Little Angels”, faith formation, need parent involvement, ornament making for community service, We have $600 to spend for our students

    Pasta Night at OLOSC – Wed 4-7am , and Edge 7-9 – for students in Gr. 7&8.

     





    Committee Structure / Reports

    Safe & Accepting Schools – 1st meeting Nov. 13 9:30am – concerns about safety, please contact

    Principal/VP, we meet 4x a year, involve some students to provide them with a leadership opportunity. Parents are invited to sit on committee.

    Matthew Bilodeau meeting with Luisa Carbonara and Giuliana Precoprio about Orchard Grove.

    Ex. Gate locked during school hours

    Lunch hour – discuss whether students can leave for lunch (ex. Tim Horton’s)

    OAPCE/NCPIC – School Board Committee – looking for parent rep.

    SEAC Report – Update - Mr. MacDougall – None at this time.

     





    Principal Items

    Student Council – Update – provide leadership opportunities (student council), application- not a vote, meet with Principal on a very regular basis.

    CSC By-Laws – discussion to possibly update at the next meeting.

    Board Policies – contact Mr. MacDougall if you have any concerns, can provide feedback directly to the Board.

    Food Drives - February/June – Focus on non-popular months after Christmas and Easter. Hard for families to get through summer.

    Backpacks of Hope-November 10th pick up – has been done in the past. Possible activity for Student Council.

    EQAO results – reviewed in Sept 2017

    Food Days – CSC would like to increase # of food days. More discussion.

     

    Dress code – reminder about Board policy, in November Newsletter. A reminder of the dress code, expectation to be in dress code when in school, Can’t wear big logo’s on white/blue shirts etc. Leggings are not part of the dress code. Dark navy blue pants/jeans. Sweatpants up to Grade 3. Stripes on pants etc are not a part of the dress code.

     

    Late arrivals – Once “ O Canada & the Morning Announcements” are being presented, then a student is late and must go to the office for a late slip. Attendance and call outs need to go out as soon as possible. Please be on time.

     

    Graduation – in the past, has been done at Saint Paul. With 81 students, we may need a larger venue. Usually $500 towards Grad,
